Our process

Praktica works with university co-op offices to post internship opportunities via their databases. Employers can send us the job postings and we will disseminate to the coop offices according to their timeline. Praktica will screen and prepare candidates for their internships to give partners confidence in their next hire.

Praktica will reach out to employers to arrange interviews and student short lists. Students can also apply and arrange for interviews like other applicants. Some interviews are international, students bear the responsibility to choose an interview time that works with the employer.

Praktica promises their partners support and a dedicated point of contact for any questions and concerns.

Placements can be 4, 8 or 12 months long. We typically begin arrangement for each placement about 6 months in advance, in order to allow the student time for travel and visa arrangements.

We recommend to place students for a longer period such as 8 or 12 months, in order to maximize their ability to contribute to your organization after ramp-up and acclimatization.

For example, a placement that starts in fall (September), would ideally be posted with the overseas university Co-Op offices by end of February. We thus should receive your Co-Op job posting around mid-February.

That said, a typical Co-Op job posting is usually less detailed than a full-time job description and can be sent to us any time of the year.

We are happy to provide some samples for your first posting!

Similar to HR placement agencies, we charge a fee for our placement arrangements, to cover the expenses of our operations. This fee may be waived if the originating university already has a funding arrangement with Praktica for our program.

According to local legisation, all Co-Op student must be paid a salary. The amount is up to the employer, however some market rates apply. We are happy to provide guidance on typical and competitive co-op salary rates.

As Praktica is represented in both countries, we are able to handle the entire payroll, benefits and remittance process for you, if needed.
